SlimStat 0.6
Oct18
The newest version of SlimStat, my simple but powerful web stats analyser, is now available.
Here's a brief summary of what's new in this version.
Less memory-intensive setup
The country data is in a 3MB CSV file, which can use up an extremely large amount of memory when read all at once. SlimStat now reads it in a small piece at a time, thus hopefully eliminating memory problems during setup.
Option not to log user agent strings
To reduce database size, you can now choose not to log user agent strings. The pertinent information from the string is stored elsewhere, so the full string is only useful for debugging purposes. Not recording it will mean your database will grow more slowly. Set log_user_agents to false in _config.php.
Expanded Summary view
The Summary module now contains Yesterday, Last week and Last month for easier comparison.
Also, the Recent modules in the Summary view now contain links to filter the data by referrer or resource as applicable. There is an additional column with the external link that was there before.
The New modules are unchanged for the time being, because there's not enough room to add an extra column. I am planning to alter the layout in future to allow this to happen.

Positive/negative changes shown in green/red
In the date modules, positive and negative changes are now shown in green and red. Changes of less than 10% remain black, while changes above 30% are shown in bold. Numbers are compared to the previous hour, day, week or month as appropriate.
The idea is not to emphasise minor changes, while highlighting major differences. Feedback on this feature, particiularly the threshold settings, would be much appreciated.
For more information
As always, more information is available on the SlimStat page, along with screenshots. I hope you like it.
